The history of the SUBWAY® brand begins in 1965 in Bridgeport, Connecticut (USA). That’s when enterprising 17-year-old Fred DeLuca opens Pete’s Super Submarines, a submarine sandwich bar, to get money for college. His friend Peter Buck helps him. The restaurant quickly gains popularity, more premises open and the name is shortened to SUBWAY ®. The following years are a series of successes, a franchise system is created, thanks to which the chain develops rapidly, and in 2010 it becomes the largest catering chain in terms of the number of outlets in the world. The first SUBWAY® restaurant in Poland was established in 2000 in Warsaw, near the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Currently, the network has 44 points throughout the country, with another 11 under construction.
